How it all began.

House of Mandi was founded by a small Yemeni family who love like-minded foodies here in Orange County — a family who brought authentic Yemeni food to California.

Sit the traditional Arabic way, listen to Yemeni music while you eat, and share a platter of lamb that travelled from the farm to our oven the very same day. Freshness and creativity are our two main ingredients.

About Yemen

Where these dishes come from.

Yemen sits at the southern end of the Arabian Peninsula. Between the 12th century BCE and the 6th century CE it was home to six great civilisations — Ma'in, Qataban, Hadhramaut, Awsan, Saba and Himyar — rivals and allies who controlled the incense and spice routes of the ancient world. Islam arrived in 630 CE, and Yemen became part of the Muslim realm.

That history is still on the plate: Mandi comes to us from Hadhramaut, Haneeth from Sana'a, Madfun from Shabwa, and Fish Mova from Aden.

Cooked fresh daily

Because everything — especially the meat — is cooked fresh each day, and per Health Department regulations, food that has left the kitchen cannot be returned or exchanged.
